4 Persons Dead In Accident On Mumbai-Pune Expressway After Tanker Caught Fire, Massive Traffic Jam Between Khandala And Lonavala

Khandala/Lonavala, 13th June 2023: A devastating incident occurred on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway as a chemical tanker overturned and subsequently caught fire at the Kune bridge in Khandala Ghat. The accident resulted in a significant chemical spillage, leading to hazardous conditions on the road.

Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the spot to provide assistance, while traffic movement was diverted from Lonavala to alleviate congestion. The incident took place at around 11.40 am.

Tragically, the incident claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy who was riding a bike on the road below the bridge. Additionally, the boy’s parents sustained severe injuries in the accident. As per preliminary information, a total of four individuals lost their lives, and three others suffered critical injuries.

The aftermath of the accident has caused a massive traffic jam, further exacerbating the situation. Efforts are underway to manage the traffic congestion and initiate relief work promptly. The spillage of a substantial quantity of chemicals adds to the complexity of the operation, as specialized measures must be taken to ensure the safety of both the response teams and the surrounding environment.

 

 

Authorities are coordinating the rescue and relief operations, prioritizing the containment of the chemical spill and securing the accident site. Medical teams are attending to the injured, providing immediate medical care and transporting them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
