Pimpri, 14th September 2022: While the face of Hinjewadi and surrounding villages has changed in the glare of IT, heaps of garbage on the roads are spoiling the map of this beautiful face. Local villagers have geared up to overcome this.

A unique initiative and fight against uncleanliness are starting by creating the ‘Nere-Marunji Pattern’ for a garbage-free village. Under this, those who throw garbage in the open will face the offering of sit-ups and apart from the police action, a fine of Rs 5,000.

For garbage disposal, Nere-Marunji Gram Panchayat of Hinjewadi has given tenders worth lakhs of rupees to various organizations for domestic waste collection. Accordingly, eight to 10 carts go from door to door and collect the garbage. Despite this, some people are secretly throwing garbage in the open on the Nere-Marunji main road. Despite measures like public awareness, advertisements, calls, and punitive action against garbage throwing in the open, piles of garbage are increasing on the roads. According to the ‘Nere-Manuji Pattern’, two members of the team hide around the garbage heap during the day and two at night. Under this supervision, those who throw garbage in the open are caught red-handed.

In the last few days, videos of people throwing garbage in the open are becoming increasingly viral in the IT sector. Its positive effect is also visible. The amount of waste here has been reduced to a great extent. The local Hinjewadi police have also come forward to help the villagers.
