Kondhwa, 24th October 2023: In a festive twist of fate on Dussehra, residents of NIBM Anandvan Parisar can now celebrate the successful launch of a new bus route extending from Pune Station to Ganga Florentina Society with a mere fare of Rs 20. This achievement comes after six months of relentless pursuit by the NIBM Anandvan Parisar Residents Association (NAPRA), who diligently followed up with PMPML officials and their local Corporator.

The joyous inauguration of this long-anticipated bus route was marked by a traditional Pooja ceremony conducted by the active resident of Ganga Florentina Society, Yogesh Singh. The breaking of the coconut in front of the bus symbolized the fruition of their tireless efforts.

Nitin Bokey, President of NIBM Anandvan Parisar Residents Association, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the residents on this remarkable achievement.

He added, “The extended bus route will enhance transportation convenience, adding to the festive spirit of Dussehra and securing a brighter future for the NIBM Anandvan Parisar neighborhood. As of now, the bus frequency is once in two hours starting from 6 a.m. With time, we expect the frequency to increase as per the requirement and additional bus routes to different parts of the city.”

Vijay Yenpure, a resident, said, “I have been a daily bus commuter for the last 10-15 years. When I moved to the area, I was shocked to see no bus routes extending to different parts of the city. Hence, we wrote a letter addressing the problem to PMPML Officer Dattatray Zende, and after months of follow-ups, we finally have a bus service in our area. Public transport plays a great role in our economy and environment. It is cost-effective and saves fuel for up to 30-35 personal vehicles. It is essential for the people and the government to encourage the use of public transport.”

Zende said, “We received a demand for bus routes in the area. We then started surveying for requirements and then allotted the route and frequency of the bus accordingly. The frequency will increase as more people start opting for buses.”

The residents of Mohammadwadi have experienced the lack of public transport, which has forced them to opt for higher-end options of cabs/auto-rickshaws or personal vehicles bearing the rising prices of petrol. The increase in public transportation might reduce the number of personal vehicles and ultimately reduce air pollution and traffic congestion.
