Pune, 27th February 2026: The election of chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of various subject committees of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was completed unopposed, with the formal selection process carried out by the presiding officer and Social Welfare Commissioner Deepa Mudhol Munde.

The Pune Municipal Corporation has a total of seven committees functioning as part of its administrative framework. While the Standing Committee holds the maximum financial powers, the remaining six subject committees do not have direct financial authority. However, they play a crucial role in shaping policy decisions and overseeing planning and implementation across key civic sectors. These include education, sports, women and child welfare, city improvement, law, and naming-related matters.

Applications for the posts of chairperson and deputy chairperson were submitted on February 23. Since nominations were filed only by the Bharatiya Janata Party, all the committee posts were filled unopposed.

The Law Committee will be headed by Chairperson Swarada Bapat, with Payal Tupe as Deputy Chairperson. The City Improvement Committee will be led by Smita Vaste as Chairperson and Sapna Chhajed as Deputy Chairperson. Alpana Varpe has been elected Chairperson of the Women and Child Welfare Committee, with Tanvi Divekar as Deputy Chairperson.

Narayan Galande has been elected Chairperson of the Sports Committee, while Dinesh Mathwad will serve as Deputy Chairperson. The Education Committee will be chaired by Arun Rajwade, with Atul Tarwade as Deputy Chairperson. The Naming Committee will be headed by Pallavi Jawale, with Sunil Pandey elected as Deputy Chairperson.
