Pune: New ‘Morya Award’ Introduced As Pimpri Chinchwad Gears Up For Ganeshotsav
Pimpri, 7th September 2023: Ganesh Mandals have been urged to consider the well-being of students, senior citizens, and the general public when installing sound systems during Ganeshotsav celebrations. The emphasis is on preventing noise disturbance and avoiding noise pollution.
Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey has advised Ganesh Mandals to adhere to noise limits during Ganeshotsav and has announced the introduction of the ‘Morya Award’ for Ganesh Mandals this year.
A joint meeting was held at Madgulkar Auditorium in Akurdi, bringing together various Ganeshotsav Mandals, police administration, electricity distribution, and municipal officials to plan various facilities for Ganeshotsav.
Present at the occasion were PCMC Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Vijay Kumar Khorate, and Ulhas Jagtap.
To streamline the process of obtaining licenses for Ganesh Mandals, a “single window scheme” has been initiated, making licenses available at ward offices in one place. This convenience will be available even on holidays, with no fees charged by the municipality, following government guidelines. However, Mandals must comply with terms and conditions set by the police administration, municipal corporation, and other relevant agencies.
All Ganesh Mandals in the city are required to recruit volunteers and submit their lists to the police administration, which will issue temporary identity cards. Commissioner Choubey also announced plans for a training camp for these volunteers.
Electricity will be provided to Ganesh Mandals at domestic rates, as stated by Executive Engineer Atul Devkar.
“The Municipal Corporation is fully supporting Ganesh Mandals, emphasizing the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav. Mandals are urged not to nail, put up posters, or cut branches from trees”, said Pradeep Jambhale-Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC.
