Pune News: New Restrictions On Heavy Vehicles To Tackle Traffic Congestion In Wagholi, Lohegaon

Pune, 20th February 2024: Due to a substantial increase in the number of vehicles in the city of Pune, coupled with ongoing major projects such as the metro and flyovers, as well as various development works, the road space is extensively occupied by heavy vehicles, leading to significant traffic congestion. This situation poses a considerable threat and inconvenience to the citizens.

To mitigate the dangers, obstacles, and inconveniences faced by the public, Deputy Commissioner of Pune City Traffic Branch, Shashikant Borate, has collaborated with experts and conducted surveys. Following discussions and under the directive of Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the following new temporary and experimental traffic orders are being implemented. These orders supersede the previous traffic restrictions at the specified location.

The traffic and parking of all heavy, bulky, and slow-speed vehicles, including dumpers, RMC mixers, JCBs, road rollers, and similar vehicles, are prohibited during specified hours in various locations and roads within the city of Pune. This restriction does not apply to essential service vehicles such as fire brigade, police vehicles, ambulances, PMPML Private Buses, etc.

Here are the details of the prohibited areas and the corresponding time frames:

1. Pune Nagar Road:
– Prohibited Section: Wagheshwar Chowk, Wagholi to Kharadi Bypass
– Prohibition Hours: 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

2. Kesnand Road:
– Prohibited Section: Wagholi to Shivaji Chowk Kesnand Gaon
– Prohibition Hours: 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

3. Lohegaon Wagholi Road:
– Prohibited Section: Lohegaon Chowk, Wagholi to Lohegaon to Vishrantwadi via Dhanori
– Prohibition Hours: 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

4. Pune Nagar Road:
– Prohibited Section: Wagheshwar Chowk, Wagholi to Lonikand
– Prohibition Hours: 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

5. Lohegaon Road:
– Prohibited Section: Lohegaon to Petrol Satha Chowk to Vishrantwadi
– Prohibition Hours: 8:00 am to 11:00 pm

However, should citizens have any suggestions or objections regarding these restrictions, they are encouraged to submit them in writing to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, located at Yerwada Post Office, Bungalow No. 6, Jail Road, Pune 41006. This avenue for feedback is open from today until the 5th of March 2024. The final orders will be issued after a thorough consideration of the suggestions and objections put forth by the citizens.
