Pune, 19th October 2021: Many NGO’ have objected to the beautification of the Mula and Mutha rivers in Pune city. According to them, the officials involved in the project are misleading them and not giving the complete plan.

Similarly, NGOs alleged that the officials every time when asked about it, point fingers towards the consulting firm appointed for it. NGO members mentioned that the project is damaging and might invite floods in future.

While addressing a press conference here in the city, Sajag Nagrik Manch president Vivek Velankar said, “the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) did give a presentation about it before us, but failed to give satisfactory answers to the queries raised by us. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2.50 crores the budgetary allotment is done for Rs 4,727 crores”.

It was suggested that while carrying out the project, the filler will not be used in the river, but the DPR shows that the filler will be used. The NGO’s also said that instead of beautification of the river, resolve the problem of its pollution and contamination.

Surajya Sangarsh Samiti Vijay Kumbhar said that there have been many suspicious points in the DPR presented to us and before they get satisfactory answers they will not approve it.
