Pune, 19th October 2021: Republican Party of India (RPI-A) leader Ramdas Athawale, who is a minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government, today said that the BJP, which is already in a poll-pact with the RPI-A, should not enter into alliance with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House today, he said, “We have come to know that BJP and MNS are likely to form an alliance for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections which will be held early next year.”

He also predicted that the next deputy mayor will be from the RPI. “If the mayor’s seat gets reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidate, the Mayor might be from RPI or else the seat of deputy mayor is confirmed”, said the Union Minister of State for Social Justice.
