Pune: Notice Sent To Five Assistant Commissioners Of Municipal Corporation For Delay In Action

Pune, 14th November 2022: Notices have been issued to five Assistant Commissioners of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) de for the delay in taking action on unauthorized advertisement boards, cloth boards, and vandalism. It has been clarified by the municipal administration that the fine will be recovered from the salary of these officers.

 

The G-20 International Conference will be held in the city in January. Against this backdrop, city beautification has been given priority by the municipal administration. Commissioner Vikram Kumar has ordered action against unauthorized advertisement boards, cloth boards, flags, and murals to prevent disfigurement of the city along with repair of major roads, and beautification of sixty squares. A fine of Rs 1,000 should be collected for each unauthorized advertisement board. If the fine is not paid, the burden of the fine should be added to the income tax of the concerned and criminal cases should be registered by the Commissioner’s office. It has also been suggested to the officers that they submit a daily report of the action. But the authorities are reluctant to take action.

 

 

Political parties, local leaders, activists and office bearers, various NGOs, educational institutions, and others are being advertised unofficially in the city. Due to this, the revenue of the municipal corporation is falling, and the city is also disfigured. At present, only Rs.10,000 fine has been collected and 609 billboards and cloth boards have been removed. A fine of Rs 6.09 lakh was expected to be recovered, but the amount of penalty and the number of flexes actioned do not match. Therefore, the penalty amount will now be recovered from the salary of the defaulters in the action. Notices have been issued to five Assistant Commissioners in this regard.
