Pune: Notices Issued To 530 WhatsApp Groups Admins Ahead Of Koregaon Bhima Jaystambh Program
Pune, December 31, 2020: Taking every precaution, Pune Rural Police have issued notices to 530 WhatsApp group administrators on the background of Koregaon Bhima ‘Jaystambh’ event which will take place on January 1, 2021. Every year thousands of people visit ‘Jaystambh’ to pay tributes to those who lost their lives during the battle that took place in British era.
To avoid any untoward incident and to maintain the law and order situation, police has sent notices to the group administrators. As many as 410 WhatApp group under Lonikand police station and 120 falling under Shikrapur police stations have been served notices by the police.
Shikrapur police inspector Umesh Tavsakar and Lonikand police station sub-inspector Pratap Mankar said that those who will be found spreading false news or rumors will be arrested. Both the inspectors also advised that the group administrator should take precaution if they found any objectionable messages or posts and should delete them.
