Pimpri, 1st July 2022: Henceforth, whenever private godowns of scrap dealers catch fire, they will be charged Rs 3,000 per round to extinguish the fire and Rs 5,000 to extinguish the fire at godowns located upto 10 km outside the city.

There are private scrap dealers and their warehouses in Chikhali, Kudalwadi, Thergaon, Dapodi, Pimple Gurav, and Bhosari areas of the city. Whenever fire breaks out, a lot of water, fuel and manpower of the Fire Brigade of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is utilized.

Vendors and warehouse traders do not pay any municipal tax as they are unauthorized, which causes financial loss to the civic body. Hence, Commissioner and Administrator, Rajesh Patil approved this decision.

To extinguish the fire in such scrap shops and warehouses, the law committee had proposed a fee of Rs five thousand and Rs ten thousand was proposed for out-of-town fires. Charges have been reduced to Rs three thousand and Rs five thousand respectively.
