Pune: Now Robot perform preliminary check-up of Corona patient at this hospital

Pune, May 15, 2020: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) administration has roped in a robot for medical check-up of suspected COVID patients to curb infection. The robot has been developed by the board’s ITI department. The robot can walk and perform various preliminary investigations of the corona patients.

Amit Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of the Pune Cantonment Board, said that the ITI department has created a state-of-the-art walking robot with great skill. This is definitely a matter of pride. This robot has been built at a very low cost.

The Corona epidemic is currently raging around the world. The epidemic has also hit India. The number of COVID19 patients in Pune city is increasing day by day. To provide various services to these patients, the ITI department of Pune Cantonment Board has developed a robot which is controlled through remote control. The robot is currently serving the Corona patient at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital in Camp. The robot is talking, walking and will be screening citizens having Coronavirus symptoms. It will also record body temperature.

While walking, the robot will not only stop for screening or checking the patients, but it will also ask them various questions about health. The questionnaire was prepared by Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad, Resident Medical Officer, Patel Hospital. Special software has been developed for this robot. After the citizens answer the questions asked by the robot, the doctors in the hospital will decide whether to admit the concerned patients in the corona ward or keep them in the isolation ward. This robot will make the work of doctors and nurses in Patel Hospital easier.

In the first phase, the robot will be installed in the casualty ward of the hospital. A computerized system has been installed for the robot to walk and talk, and a thermometer has been installed to measure the body temperature of the citizen.

ITI principal Vijay Chavan said that the walking robot is built using state-of-the-art technology. Citizens will be screened, body temperature checked and questions will be asked in English. For this, a special system has been installed in this robot.
