Pune, 25th May 2026: The Maharashtra unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Monday organised a protest and condolence meeting at Joggers Park in Lokmanya Nagar over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process and the reported alleged suicides of students linked to the controversy.

NSUI office-bearers alleged that the NEET paper leak had shattered the dreams of students who had spent years preparing for the examination. The organisation accused the BJP government and the “coaching mafia” of colluding and jeopardising the future of students aspiring to become doctors after investing lakhs of rupees in private coaching classes.

The student body claimed that irregularities in the examination process had caused severe mental stress among hardworking students and pointed out that six students across the country had allegedly died by suicide in connection with the controversy.

The condolence meeting was organised to pay tribute to the deceased students and pray for peace to their souls.

Among those present were Akshay Kamble, Krishna Sathe, Siddhant Jambhulkar, Sahebrao Kshirsagar and Raviraj Kamble, along with several NSUI office-bearers and workers.

The organisation demanded strict action against those responsible for compromising students’ futures and called for an impartial investigation into the NEET paper leak case.
