Pune Offers Rs 50 Petrol Discount, 10% Restaurant Discount to Boost Voter Participation in Maharashtra Elections 2024

Pune, 12th November 2024: Considering the urban citizens’ indifference towards voting and its negative impact on the voting percentage, various organizations have taken the initiative to increase the voter turnout in Pune, offering attractive incentives to encourage participation.

At a press conference organized today, several organizations, including Pune Nagrik Manch, CREDAI, Art of Living, Pune Hoteliers Association, Pune Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association, Petrol Dealers Association, Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation, came together to discuss efforts to raise the voter turnout and this whole activity is being done in close association with district collector’s office, Pune.

Present at the event were representatives such as Vishal Nalkare, Rohit Narha, and Sameer Khare from Pune Nagrik Manch; Suhas Patwardhan from the Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation; Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association; Raje Shastre from Art of Living; Ganesh Shetty, President of Pune Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association; Amitkumar Sharma, President of Pune Hotel Association; and Ranjit Naiknavare, President of CREDAI, all of whom shared their organization’s stance on voter awareness.

Speaking at the event, Vishal Nalkare from Pune Nagrik Manch highlighted that Pune is an important city in Maharashtra and recent apathy towards voting will be addressed through collective efforts. Senior citizen groups, women’s groups, laughter clubs, and housing societies are also joining this campaign.

Suhas Patwardhan from the Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation having 25000 co-op housing societies and 50,000 apartments in Pune mentioned that for the past three months, efforts have been underway to increase senior citizen voting in cooperative housing societies. Cooperation friends have been appointed at the society level, and social media is also being leveraged.

Dhruv Ruparel, president of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, having 900 member pumps announced, “On November 20, voters can get a discount of 50 rupees worth of free petrol on engine oil purchases.”

Ganesh Shetty from the Pune Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association shared that voters fulfilling their civic duty will receive a 10% discount on Food by 550 members of Pune Restaurant and Hotelier’s Associations (PRAHA) on the voting day, PRAHA will pledge active Participation in the largest celebration of democracy.

The Art of Living Pune has around 950 teacher and 5 lakh members, Rajay Shashtare mentioned they have a target to reach 40 lakh people on social media through various efforts.

Pune Hotels Association president Amit Kumar Sharma has declared “All our 74 member hotels will honor 10 percent discount across Pune and all the staff members have taken a pledge to vote.”

Credai Pune Metro led by their president Ranjeet Naiknavare has also pledged their support for this voting cause and aims to reach their 500 members and 50,000 employees as well as their huge base of customers

These organizations are setting up selfie points at various voting locations, creating war rooms at the society level, and organizing poster competitions. Citizens of Pune are urged to actively participate in this grand democratic festival.
