Pune: On First Day, 2077 People Apply For Digital Pass For Inter-District Travel

Pune, 23 April 2021: Till 6 pm today, 2077 people applied for the digital pass or e-pass needed for inter-district travel in Maharashtra and to other states.
The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for people to get a pass if they want to travel from April 23 to May 1. Accordingly, police have activated the website https://covid19.mhpolice.in where people can apply for the digital pass. Those who are not able to fill the online form can approach the nearest police station for help in filling the online form.
For smooth functioning of the mechanism, Pune city police have set up a ‘Digital Pass Cell’ consisting of one police inspector, two assistant police inspectors and 20 police constables. The cell will operate from the police commissioner office in Camp.
According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, till 6 pm today, a total of 2077 people have applied for the passes out of which 286 persons have been issued digital passes. 375 citizens have been denied due to a lack of required documents.
Police have clarified that citizens involved in essential services, facilities and goods do not need a digital pass. They can travel by showing their official identity card at checkpoints.
However, permission will not be granted for business purposes.
Who can get a digital pass?
People can get a digital pass if they are going to attend funeral or serious illness of a close person (mother/father/brother/sister/cousin/mother-in-law/sister-in-law), marriage, hospitalisation. It is mandatory to submit the required documents online.
Also, the digital pass will be given to the bride and groom, their parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts for the wedding ceremony. But for this, it is necessary to attach the wedding card.
Digital passes will be issued to the citizens traveling by air.
