Pune: One-Day Police Custody for Gaurav Ahuja; Friends’ Burger Delivery Attempt Foiled At Police Station
Yerwada, 9th March 2025: A judicial magistrate court has remanded Gaurav Manoj Ahuja (25) and his friend Bhagyesh Prakash Oswal (25) to one-day police custody in connection with an obscene act in public. Ahuja had fled after the incident and later surrendered in Karad. Prior to his arrest, he released a video apologizing to the public and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. However, suspicions have arisen that he deliberately delayed his surrender to avoid an immediate blood test.
In the same incident, traces of alcohol were found in the blood of Bhagyesh Oswal, who was with Gaurav at the time. Notably, after Bhagyesh was taken to the police station, his friends reportedly attempted to bring him a parcel of burgers and cold coffee.
What Happened?
Gaurav Ahuja, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, engaged in obscene behavior at Yerwada Chowk and urinated on the roadside early Saturday morning. He continued misbehaving even after getting into his BMW car. At the time, his friend Bhagyesh Oswal was with him, holding a bottle of alcohol. A video of the incident was recorded by an eyewitness, after which Gaurav sped away.
Following his arrest, both Gaurav and Bhagyesh underwent medical tests. While Bhagyesh’s blood test confirmed the presence of alcohol, Gaurav’s test report is still awaited.
Suspicious Behavior by Friends
After Gaurav’s arrest, Bhagyesh Oswal was detained at the police station for questioning. During this time, his friends arrived at the station and attempted to deliver a parcel of burgers and cold coffee. However, the police intervened and asked them to leave.
The case continues to unfold as authorities await Gaurav Ahuja’s blood test report.
