Pimpri, 30th October 2023: To enhance the Diwali celebrations for the citizens, the State Transport Corporation (ST) has prepared to provide additional transportation services. A total of 77 buses have been scheduled to operate from Vallabh Nagar on various state routes.

Pimpri-Chinchwad city, a hub for individuals from across the state and abroad who have settled there for employment and business, sees a surge in people wanting to visit their hometowns to celebrate the festival. Recognizing the substantial number of travellers during the Diwali holidays, the ST administration has decided to release 515 extra buses from Pune depots. Additionally, 77 buses have been organized from Vallabh Nagar.

This move aims to ease the journeys of those heading to their villages from the city. The ST Corporation has also introduced online ticket booking, alongside traditional ticket window options, to facilitate travel planning. These transportation services have been arranged to accommodate passengers travelling to and from Marathwada and Western Maharashtra regions.

Notably, the Khadki cantonment area experiences a high volume of travellers departing for Diwali festivities. Consequently, the Swargate, Shivajinagar (Wakdewadi), and Pimpri-Chinchwad bus stands in Pune often reach full capacity due to the influx of passengers and trains. Therefore, the ST administration rents large grounds in the Khadki cantonment area each year to manage the additional demand and organizes extra buses for this purpose.

This year, the ST administration has continued with its well-established plan, recognizing the significance of the Pimpri-Chinchwad region and its connectivity to various locations. As a result, passengers from Khadki and Shivajinagar are also accommodated in the transportation arrangements, ensuring that people can travel conveniently during the festive season.
