Pune, 14th May 2023: 7.10 lakh bills have been prepared by Municipal Property Tax Department. Pune residents will get the said bills online from Monday. Tax can be paid based on the same.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) distributes bills from the 1st of April every year. However, the municipality had not prepared the bills as the decision regarding 40 per cent discount was taken by the government in the third week of April. As a result, this year the bills will be issued from 15th May.

So, the residential properties which have been registered after 2019, the 40 per cent discount have been canceled by the municipality as the house owners themselves are not living in the GIS survey and the bills of nearly 1 lakh other properties will be paid till 31st May. The number of such bills is about four and a half lakhs.

The bill can be deposited in the tax payment center only by giving the property number. Citizens do not need to carry a copy of the new bill for that. Citizens will be able to pay the bill by giving the property number even by showing the old bill which will make the work easier.

Every year 10 to 15 per cent discount on general tax is given to those who pay tax from 1st April to 31st May every year. However, since the bills will be issued from 15th May this year, this discount will be till 15th July. Citizens whose bills are to be paid by 31st May will also get the discount till 31st July.

Bills will be sent via e-mail to tax holders with e-mail id registered with the municipality. Tax holders with registered mobile numbers will receive the link of the bill through “SMS”. Click on the relevant link to open the bill and download it. Open the property tax window on the website of the municipality and enter the property number, the bill can be viewed.

Dr Ajit Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner, Tax Collection Department said, “7.10 lakh bills have been prepared till Saturday evening. The rest of the bills will be prepared on Sunday night and our efforts are on to make them visible to the citizens from Monday morning itself. So property tax can be paid from Monday.”
