Pune: Only 55% Registered Medical Staff Vaccinated On First Day

Pune, 17th January: A mega vaccination drive was arranged on Saturday (16th January), for the healthcare workers in the city. On the first day, out of 800 registered people, only 438 people got vaccinated which is about 55 % of total registrations.

The vaccination drive was arranged at eight centres in the city by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The drive was started at Kamla Nehru Hospital in the presence of Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao, Municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar.

PMC has registered 55,000 healthcare staff out of which 22,000 were selected for the vaccination. On Saturday, 800 people were selected for vaccination, but only 438 people turned up at the designated centres. Nearly 42 % of staff remained absent for vaccination, while 32 people rejected getting vaccinated after coming to the centre.

“As of now, we don’t have any directions about vaccination of absent people. Next drive will be organised according to the decision taken by the state health department”, said Dr Sachin Yedke, district vaccination officer.
