Pune: Tourists From Telangana Booked For Flying Drones Over INS Shivaji In Lonavala

Lonavala 27th Sept 2023: The Pune Rural Police have booked three people from Telangana for flying drones over INS Shivaji, an Indian Naval Station located in Lonavala. The youths were booked after they were intercepted by the navy personnel and an FIR in this regard was given by the officials from INS Shivaji.
According to police, three accused identified as Balkrishna Viresham Muntha (29), K Dinesh K Anand (29) and Tanis Tilak Teja Srinivas Rao (25) have been booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the matter. The officials of the INS Shivaji have confiscated the drone and the arrested youths have been served notices by the police in the case.
It may be noted that flying drones in sensitive zones is prohibited and INS Shivaji is a premier institute of Indian Navy. The youths were found flying the drones near Signal 773 Unit near the Air Force Station located here. Similar incidents have been reported in the past as well when people flying drones in the sensitive zones were intercepted by the navy officials and cases were registered with local police. It was revealed during the investigation that the youths did not have any ill intention while flying drones in the sensitive zone but they were not aware about the restrictions.
