Opium Worth Over Rs 22 Lakh Seized On Lohgaon-Wagholi Road

Pune, 11th October 2025: The Anti-Narcotic Cell 1 of the Pune City Crime Branch has arrested a man for allegedly selling opium and seized narcotics valued at more than ₹22 lakh during a major operation carried out on October 10, 2025.

According to the police, officers on patrol noticed a man behaving suspiciously near Shop No. 20, Shivarkar Complex, Lohgaon–Wagholi Road. The suspect was carrying a black bag over his shoulder. When approached by the police, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.

The accused has been identified as Tulsidas Kisandas Vaishnav (30), a resident of Post Varni, Tehsil Vallabhnagar, District Udaipur, Rajasthan. Upon searching him, police recovered the following items:
Opium (narcotic substance): 1 kg 112 grams, valued at ₹22,24,000
Two mobile phones: valued at ₹15,000
One black bag: valued at ₹200

The total seized property is valued at ₹22,39,200.

A case has been registered against Vaishnav at Wagholi Police Station (C.R. No. 569/2025) under Sections 8(c) and 17(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation is being led by PSI Hawale of Wagholi Police Station.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Vijay Kumbhar. The Anti-Narcotic Cell 1 team comprised PI Prashant Annachhatre, API Anil Survase, PSI Digambar Kokate, and constables Sachin Malve, Vishal Dalvi, Maruti Pardhi, Nagnath Rakh, Sandeep Shirke, Dayanand Telange, Vipun Gaikwad, Sandesh Kakde, and Dattaram Jadhav.

Police officials stated that the operation was part of an ongoing drive by the Pune City Police to curb the sale and distribution of narcotic substances within the city limits.
