Pune, 19th March 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune and several other districts, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and possible hail over the next few hours.

According to the IMD’s Mumbai division, the alert—issued at 2:15 pm on March 19—is valid until 5:15 pm, indicating medium-intensity weather activity across parts of Maharashtra. Along with Pune, districts including Ahilyanagar, Beed, Dharashiv, Sangli, and Solapur are also likely to be affected.

The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph, and isolated incidents of hailstorms in some areas during this period.

Officials said such conditions could lead to temporary disruptions, including reduced visibility, minor damage to crops or structures, and inconvenience to commuters. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially during lightning activity and strong winds.
