Pune: Over 100 mm Rainfall Reported In Lonavala Dam Catchment Area In Last 8 Hours

Pune 19th July 2023: The catchment areas of the Pune district have received heavy rainfall in the last few hours. This resulted in the increase of water levels in the dams. According to officials, around over 100 mm rainfall has been reported in Lonavala Dam Catchment area in the last 8 hours.

According to officials, 1.76 TMC water has been added to the Lonavala Dam during this period and the total water storage in the dam has increased to 6.55 TMC. The dam has been filled upto 56 percent of its capacity. The Indian Meteorological Department had issued a red alert for the Pune district for July 18 and 19.

The water levels in other dams of the district has also increased. Around over 1 TMC water has been added into Khadakwasla, Warasgaon, Kamshet and Temghar dams in the last 24 hours. However, this is still far less compared to last year’s stock reported during the same period. According to official data, the four dams have 11.24 TMC water compared to 18.89 TMC water storage it has on the same day last year.
