Pune : Over 3.5 Lakh Beneficiaries But PMC Receives Only 50K Applications For Concession In Property Tax Till Date
Pune 21st Sept 2023: Amid demand from politicians and locals, the state government had earlier announced to continue the 40% concession in the property tax to the citizens living in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits. However, it has been revealed that the civic body is still awaiting applications from the majority of beneficiaries.
According to the officials. over 3.5 lakh property owners in the city are eligible for the concession but only 50,000 applications have been received till date. The last date to apply for the concession is November 15 and the municipal corporation has appealed to the taxpayers to make their payment in time to avail the benefit.
The municipal corporation had earlier announced to cancel the concession and had asked the taxpayers to make full payment of their property tax. However, the local politicians and citizens raised objections to it and the matter was discussed in the state cabinet meeting after which the government announced to continue the benefit for citizens. The taxpayers now need to fill the PT-3 form and submit to the respective ward offices to avail the benefit. However, over 3 lakh beneficiaries are yet to follow the process to avail the benefit.
