Pune Palkhi 2025: Know All About Traffic Diversions, Security Measures, and Live Palkhi Tracking

Pune, 18th June 2025: The historic Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj are set to pass through Pune city from June 20 to June 23, 2025. In preparation, the Pune City Police, Traffic Department, and various state agencies have completed extensive coordination to ensure smooth movement, safety, and public convenience.
Every year, lakhs of Warkaris and devotees from across Maharashtra and beyond arrive in Pune to witness and participate in the spiritual journey to Pandharpur. Given the large crowds, the administration has implemented strict planning across traffic, law enforcement, and amenities to avoid any untoward incidents.

Traffic Regulations & Diversions
To accommodate the Palkhis and massive footfall:
Traffic restrictions will be in force from 10 PM on June 19 until 11 PM on June 23.
Roads in and around the Palkhi route will see major traffic diversions, with 28 key diversion points managed by the traffic police.
Alternative routes will be assigned for vehicles approaching Pune and exiting the city.

Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi: Approx. 38 km in Pune
Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi: Approx. 230 km

Special security measures have been deployed to prevent incidents such as crowd surges, thefts, chain-snatching, and potential sabotage.

Administrative Coordination
Multiple inter-agency meetings have been held with:

Coordination with Palkhi Trusts and their representatives

Appeal to Citizens
Traffic police have appealed to citizens to:
Avoid Palkhi routes unless necessary
Use designated alternate roads
Follow all traffic and safety instructions
Private vehicles (except emergency services) will be restricted on Palkhi routes during this period
Information boards, help centers, and police booths will be placed across key intersections in Pune. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Amol Zende has urged public cooperation to ensure the successful and smooth conduct of this revered event.
