Pune Parking Charges: PMC Proposes Higher Rates, New Zone-Based System
Pune, 22nd September 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed a major revision of parking charges across the city, citing the rising number of vehicles and limited availability of parking space.
The proposal includes higher charges for both on-street and off-street parking. However, the revised rates will come into effect only after approval by the civic body’s Standing Committee and General Body.
Under the proposed system, central and densely populated areas will be classified as Zone A, while the remaining areas will fall under Zone B.
For off-street parking, the proposed hourly charge in Zone A is ₹15 for two-wheelers and ₹30 for four-wheelers. In Zone B, two-wheelers will be charged ₹10 per hour and four-wheelers ₹20 per hour.
The civic administration has also proposed mechanical parking facilities in central areas where parking space is limited. Four-wheelers using these facilities will be charged ₹40 per hour.
Monthly parking passes near Metro corridors
To encourage the use of public transport and reduce the number of vehicles on city roads, the PMC has proposed monthly parking passes at off-street parking facilities near Metro corridors.
In Zone A, the proposed monthly charge is ₹1,000 for two-wheelers and ₹3,000 for four-wheelers. In Zone B, the charges will be ₹1,000 for two-wheelers and ₹2,000 for four-wheelers.
The proposed policy also provides for real-time information on parking capacity, available spaces and charges through a mobile application or digital display boards. Electronic parking machines will also be made mandatory for collecting parking fees.
Rules for private parking facilities
Private parking facilities operating on land that has not been transferred to the PMC will require permission from both the civic body and the traffic police. Their parking charges cannot exceed 1.5 times the rates approved by the PMC.
Parking contractors who fail to deposit the required amount with the civic body within the prescribed time will have to pay a penalty of 2% on the outstanding amount.
Five roads proposed for on-street parking pilot
The PMC has proposed implementing the on-street parking system on a pilot basis on Balewadi High Street, Bibwewadi Road, Viman Nagar Road, Laxmi Road and the Jangli Maharaj Road–Fergusson College Road stretch.
The system may subsequently be extended to other major roads. Under the proposed system, on-street parking charges will increase with the duration of parking. In areas with heavy traffic, four-wheelers will be charged ₹40 for the first hour, with the total charge rising to ₹500 for 10 hours.
The PMC said the proposed changes are aimed at managing parking demand amid the growing number of vehicles and limited parking space in the city. According to the proposal, around 1,000 to 1,500 new vehicles are registered in Pune every day.
Proposed revised parking rates
Under the proposed Zone A rates, two-wheelers will be charged ₹15 per hour, compared with the existing ₹1, while four-wheelers will be charged ₹30, compared with the existing ₹7.
For auto-rickshaws, para-transit vehicles and goods tempos, the proposed Zone A charge is ₹20 per hour, compared with the existing ₹4. The proposed rate for mini buses is ₹45, up from ₹11, while trucks will be charged ₹60, compared with ₹14 currently. Private passenger buses will be charged ₹90 per hour, compared with the existing ₹21.
In Zone B, the proposed hourly charge for two-wheelers is ₹10, compared with the existing ₹2, while four-wheelers will be charged ₹20, compared with ₹10 currently.
For auto-rickshaws, para-transit vehicles and goods tempos, the proposed Zone B rate is ₹15 per hour, up from ₹6. The proposed charge for mini buses is ₹30, compared with ₹16 currently. Trucks will be charged ₹40, compared with the existing ₹21, while private passenger buses will be charged ₹60 per hour, compared with ₹32 currently.
