Pune: Pawana Dam Filled Upto 92% Of Its Capacity, Water Discharge To Start Today
Pune 3rd August 2023 : The water level at Pawana Dam has increased following a good rainfall reported in the catchment areas in the last few days. According to the officials, the dam has been filled upto 92.27% of its capacity on Thursday and the authorities will start discharging water into Pawana river from today.
According to the dam officials, 1,400 cusescs water discharge will start into the Pawana river from 11 am on Thursday. Further increase in the discharge is also likely in the next 24 to 48 hours if the catchment areas receive good rainfall.
“The citizens living around river are appealed to remove their animals and other belongings from river basin. Nobody should enter the river basin and necessary precautions should be taken” officials said. The administration has also been advised to make an appeal to citizens living in the low lying areas to remain alert.
