Pune: PCMC Cracks Down on Encroachments, Clears 83,099 Sq Ft Across City
Pimpri Chinchwad, 11th September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has removed unauthorised structures and encroachments spread across around 83,099 sq ft in a city-wide crackdown carried out across the limits of all 10 regional offices.
The action was taken on the directions of municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and under the guidance of additional commissioner Trupti Sandbhor and deputy commissioner Atul Patil of the encroachment department.
The civic administration said the drive targeted RCC unauthorised structures, illegal tin sheds, newly undertaken construction work and encroachments on footpaths, including unauthorised kiosks, handcarts and other structures.
In A Regional Office, action was taken over around 3,498 sq ft in Sainagar, Nigdi. The B Regional Office cleared 10,538 sq ft of encroachments at Shagun Chowk, Pimpri Market, under Empire Bridge in Chinchwad and in Walhekarwadi.
The C Regional Office removed encroachments spread over 12,723 sq ft in Chikhali, Kudalwadi, Shiv Road, Ravi Ranjan Weighbridge in Chikhali and near D-Mart in Chinchwad.
The D Regional Office cleared 5,400 sq ft, while the E Regional Office removed encroachments covering 7,965 sq ft in Bhosari and Moshi.
The highest area cleared was under the F Regional Office, where around 19,400 sq ft of unauthorised structures and encroachments were removed from More Vasti, Chikhali, Talwade and Newale Vasti.
Under the G Regional Office, action covering 13,035 sq ft was taken in Rajwade Nagar, Gokulwadi, Pavan Nagar, Swapnanagari Colony, Kalewadi, Dongre Corner, Mangal Nagar and Thergaon.
The H Regional Office cleared 1,086 sq ft in Old Sangvi, while the J Regional Office removed encroachments over 6,028 sq ft in Walhekarwadi, Datta Mandir Road in Wakad, Pimple Nilakh and Kiwale.
The L Regional Office carried out action over 3,426 sq ft in Bhosari, Indrayani Nagar, Sant Tukaram Nagar and Pimpri.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of regional officers and involved deputy engineers, civil engineering assistants, beat inspectors, 218 MSF personnel, police officers and personnel, and civic workers.
The civic administration said similar action would continue regularly, as required, to keep public spaces, roads and footpaths free of encroachments and curb unauthorised construction.
“Keeping public spaces, roads and footpaths in Pimpri Chinchwad free of encroachments and preventing unauthorised construction is a continuous responsibility of the municipal administration. Citizens should not undertake unauthorised construction or encroachments. Strict action will be taken against those violating the rules. Area-wise regular action will continue to maintain the planned and disciplined character of the city,” Suryawanshi said.
