Pune Mayor Inspects Ganesh Visarjan Ghats, Directs Officials to Ensure Safety and Cleanliness

Pune, 11th September 2026: With preparations underway for Ganeshotsav, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure on Friday inspected key Ganesh idol immersion ghats in the city and directed civic officials to ensure that cleanliness, safety and basic facilities are in place before crowds increase during the immersion days.
Nagpure inspected the immersion ghats near Panchaleshwar Temple, Garware College and the Vitthal Temple immersion ghat at Lakdi Pool to review preparations.
During the inspection, the Mayor reviewed cleanliness arrangements, nirmalya collection and management, security measures, electrical lighting and basic facilities available for devotees.
As large numbers of citizens are expected to visit the ghats for Ganesh idol immersion, Nagpure directed officials to take measures to prevent inconvenience during peak crowd periods.
Officials were instructed to deploy adequate security personnel, ensure sufficient public toilets and lighting, and maintain cleanliness in and around the immersion ghats. Nagpure also directed the concerned departments to ensure systematic collection and proper disposal or processing of nirmalya.
Pune’s Ganeshotsav attracts devotees and visitors from different parts of India and abroad. Nagpure said the arrangements at the immersion ghats should be safe and convenient for citizens and called on all concerned departments of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to coordinate and complete the necessary measures on time.
Corporator Sunil Pande, City Improvement Committee chairperson Smita Vaste, corporators Manjushree Khardekar, Priyanka Shendge Shinde, Amar Awale and Puneet Joshi, along with PMC officials and employees, were present during the inspection.
