Pune: PCMC Demolishes Unauthorized Constructions in Wakad; 82,580 Square Feet Cleared

Wakad, 4th January 2024: In a decisive move, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) initiated a large-scale demolition operation targeting numerous unauthorized constructions across various areas of Wakad.

 

 

According to details provided by the PCMC, the eviction drive focused on Bhujbal Chowk, Madhuban Hotel to Jagtap Dairy Chowk Road, falling under PCMC D Ward Office in Ward No 25 and 26 in Wakad. The operation, executed under the direct orders of PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh and supervised by Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil and City Engineer Makarand Nikam, was carried out meticulously under the guidance of Dr. Ankush Jadhav, the Ward Officer of ‘D’ Ward.

During the operation, unauthorized brick constructions and paper sheds spanning an estimated total area of 82,580 square feet were demolished to restore compliance with civic regulations. This proactive step aligns with the municipality’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of urban planning and infrastructure in the region.

The coordinated effort involved key personnel, including Executive Engineer of the Construction Department Abasaheb Dhavle, Deputy Engineer Shantaram Kobal, Junior Engineer Sham Garje, Office Superintendent Arun Kumar Sonkusare, and Beat Inspector Amol Shinde. The operation was executed with the support of the Municipal Strike Force (MSF) Jawans – 28, Municipal Police – 16, Police – 6, Laborers – 20, Cranes – 2, Tempo – 1, Gas Cutter – 2, along with other municipal employees and laborers.
