Pimpri, 13th November 2023: Despite court and government directives, post-Diwali air pollution remains a concern in various areas, prompting Kiran Gaikwad, the Special Officer of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), to call for immediate measures to mitigate the issue. Gaikwad emphasized the need to reduce air pollution through various channels and urged citizens to contribute to maintaining a clean environment in the city.

During the Diwali festivities, the bursting of firecrackers and fervent celebrations have contributed to a spike in air pollution in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Kiran Gaikwad shared that the PCMC is actively implementing measures in line with court and government instructions to curb air pollution. Special air pollution control units have been deployed, and strict adherence to travel regulations on roadways is being monitored.

Gaikwad emphasized that punitive actions would be taken against violators of pollution control rules. The Municipal Corporation is also leveraging social media and newsletters to raise awareness about the dangers of air pollution and encourage responsible behaviour.

In response to the initiative to combat air pollution, Kiran Gaikwad stated, “The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is making efforts to reduce air pollution through social media and newsletters. Air pollution is dangerous for health. Without proper care, health can be compromised. Air pollution occurs through many means. Use that medium to reduce the cost, and possibly avoid it. Efforts should be made to keep the climate of the city pure.”
