Pimpri, 21st January 2022: Mayor Mai Dhore advised the municipal administration not to start schools till the prevalence of corona infection is decreased. As the number of corona patients in Pimpri Chinchwad is increasing day by day and if schools are started in the city, students may be at risk of getting corona infection, she said.

After several days of school closures due to the spread of coronavirus, the Maharashtra state government decided to start classes of 1-12 standards from Monday. The state government said that the decision to start the school has been handed over to the local administration after considering the number of patients in the city, the growth rate, and the impact of COVID-19.

“Vaccination of students in the age group of 15 to 18 years has started, 100% of vaccination has not been completed yet. Also, vaccination of students up to 15 years of age has not even started”, said the Mayor.

Mayor Mai Dhore also informed that the possibility of corona infection in young children cannot be overseen if school starts.

She also appealed to the citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
