Pimpri, 5th November 2023: The city is experiencing a surge in epidemic diseases due to its unpredictable climate, which features scorching daytime heat and cold nights. Hospitals are witnessing an influx of patients seeking treatment for colds, coughs, and fevers, with dengue cases also on the rise. Epidemiologists have issued a call for citizens to prioritize their health.

In recent days, the weather has been consistently changing, with daytime heat and nighttime cold becoming more intense. This fluctuating environment is contributing to the spread of epidemic diseases, resulting in an increased number of cases of ailments like cold, cough, fever, and body aches in the city.

Health Officer of the Medical Department, Dr Laxman Gofane said, “It is advisable to include more pulses, leafy vegetables, and fruits in one’s diet. Avoiding oily and spicy foods, staying well-hydrated, refraining from soft drinks, and abstaining from consuming open fruits and outside foods are important. Alcohol and smoking should be avoided, and prescribed medications should be followed diligently. Regular exercise is essential for maintaining overall well-being.”

It is crucial to pay special attention to small children during the colder season. There has been an increase in viral diseases among children, with symptoms such as cold, chronic cough, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, and dry skin emerging. Paediatricians recommend that parents incorporate foods like dal-rice, khichdi, bananas, and apples into their children’s diets and take specific precautions to safeguard them from dengue. If any signs of viral diseases appear, parents are advised to seek medical care for their children.
