Pune: PCMC To Provide 10% Discount For Holding Events And Renting Public Spaces If Concept Of Zero Waste Is Implemented

Pimpri Chinchwad, 7th January 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is implementing the concept of zero waste as a means of reducing waste in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. A scheme has been started by PCMC where a discount of 10% will be given to the person renting a municipal hall, auditorium, sports field, or other location if they follow the zero waste idea property.

The implementation of the scheme has been started and the municipality has appealed to the citizens to take advantage of the same.

To avail of the benefits of the scheme, the following things should be followed:

• Program information should not be displayed using plastic, flex posters, or signs. Paper, cloth, and other eco-friendly materials should be used to print all posters and signs.
• Flowers made of plastic should not be used as decorations.
• Foot-operated sanitizer machines should be placed at the entrance and other necessary places.
• Ramps and wheelchairs should be provided for the access of disabled persons.
• Guests attending the event should register online.
• Cardboard, jute, and cloth should be used to show name tags and names of participating representatives.
• The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Swachhagraha logo should be used for gifts made of cloth, jute, plants, steel items, cloth masks, and other materials instead of plastic, thermocol, or foam.
• The municipality has appealed that QR codes should be used for program brochures, documents, publications, and invitations.
• Green dustbins and blue dustbins for wet waste and dry waste should be kept in an easily visible place to avoid wasting leftover food.
• To ensure that the remaining food does not go to waste, organizers should get in touch with NGOs and Ashrams to donate it.
• Men and women should have separate access to restrooms.
• A sanitary pad vending machine, waste paper for wrapping sanitary pads, and red-colored dustbins with sanitary waste labels for disposal of sanitary pads should be placed in the women’s toilet.
• The Municipal Corporation has appealed the decision to install touch-free sensor soap and sanitizer dispensers in the toilets.
• Water should not be consumed in plastic bottles. A glass or steel glass or bottle should be used for drinking.
• Plastic plates, cups, and cutlery are not allowed. Biodegradable eco-friendly cutlery, cups, and plates should be used.
• To promote the program, brochures, websites, WhatsApp, presentations, e-mails, and QR codes should be used instead of booklets.
• Outside food and drink should not be consumed in the event venue and area.
