Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th December 2024: The Ministry of Animal Husbandry of the Government of Maharashtra has initiated the 21st Livestock Census (LC), which will run from 25th November 2024 to 28th February 2025. The census is being conducted through M/s Animal Health Organization.

This livestock census is crucial for the government’s planning, policy-making, and compiling statistics on the production of major animal products such as milk, eggs, and meat. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is urging livestock owners to cooperate by providing information to 50 census takers regarding the breed, age group, gender, and use of 16 livestock species, including cattle, buffalo, goats, pigs, horses, mules, donkeys, camels, dogs, rabbits, and elephants, as well as poultry such as chickens, ducks, turkeys, emus, quails, guinea fowls, and ostriches.

This data is being collected from household, institutional, and cowshed livestock owners within the PCMC limits.
