Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th March 2024: The Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued an appeal to property owners regarding the payment of property tax, emphasizing the exclusion of user charges from the final payment amount shown in the online bills.

Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil urged prompt payment of due property taxes, clarifying that property holders are not obligated to pay user charges.

Out of the 6,25,000 properties in Pimpri-Chinchwad city, 4,33,759 property owners have settled their full tax dues, accumulating revenue of 886 crores in the PCMC treasury for the financial year 2024-25. However, with a target of 1,000 crores, the Taxation and Tax Collection Department faces the challenge of recovering an additional 114 crores within the remaining five days of the fiscal year.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh and his team are intensifying efforts to meet the tax collection target, employing initiatives such as property confiscation, publication of defaulters’ names, tap connection disconnection, and public awareness campaigns. Property owners are urged to promptly pay their dues to avoid water supply cutoffs and property confiscation.

Despite repeated appeals, 65,583 flat owners among 5,500 companies in the city have outstanding tax dues of 161 crores. Additionally, 148,203 residential property owners owe arrears totalling 354 crores.

Deshmukh reiterated the importance of tax payment for city development, urging delinquent property owners to contribute and avoid escalating penalty charges.
