Pimpri, 30th October 2023: In a move aimed at enhancing the educational experience for students and teachers, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has unveiled an innovative Annual Academic Calendar for the academic year 2023-24. PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh conceptualized this unique initiative.

The PCMC’s annual calendar is a meticulously crafted blueprint for primary and secondary schools, designed to promote uniformity and streamline activities across all PCMC public schools. It serves as a guiding light for educators and administrators, promoting a balanced integration of extra-curricular activities throughout the academic year.

The calendar includes a range of essential categories, including “No Bag Saturday,” unit test and term examination dates, school holidays, vacations, pre-Jallosh competitions, teacher and principal training schedules, and a tentative QCI (Quality Council of India) assessment timetable.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “This innovative approach is set to bring several advantages to the PCMC’s education system. It allows teachers, principals, and schools ample time to prepare for upcoming activities, reducing the burden on educators and enhancing the overall quality of education. By implementing this calendar, the PCMC aims to create a cohesive and consistent framework across all schools, ensuring students benefit from a harmonized educational experience.”

Additional commissioner, Pradip Jambhale-Patil said, “This initiative reaffirms the PCMC’s commitment to excellence in education and sets a new standard for educational planning and execution in public schools.”

Notably, the official inauguration of the Annual Calendar took place earlier in June, during the Commissioner’s quarterly interaction with schoolteachers and principals. The primary school calendars, reflecting this pioneering initiative, have already been printed and are currently being distributed, marking a significant step toward a more organized and well-balanced educational journey for PCMC’s young learners. Similarly, an academic calendar for over 200 Kindergartens in the civic limits has been introduced this academic year.

Anandi Nilakantha Jangam, a teacher at Mhatre Wadi School No 92, said, “All the public schools of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have transitioned from individual school-level planning to a unified academic calendar. As a core team member, I had the privilege to contribute to this significant endeavour, taking into account factors like school location, social context, and student demographics.”

Jayshree Mahesh Bhujbal, the teacher at Kasarwadi Boys and Girls Primary School, added, “Our meticulous planning for the academic calendar encompassed vital elements such as incorporating key concepts and cultural festivals throughout the year. We ensured that students’ interests across all subjects were well represented, highlighting our dedication to precision and comprehensive scheduling.”
