Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch Raids Uncover Illicit Breweries in Chakan and Shirgaon, Drug Seizure in Wakad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 15th February 2024: In a series of impactful raids, Pune’s Crime Branch Unit 3, Unit 5, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell took decisive action against illicit activities, targeting breweries and seizing drugs in Chakan, Shirgaon, and Wakad.

1) Chakan Operation:
Crime Branch Unit 3, led by Police Constable Rajkumar Hanmante, conducted a raid in Kalus under Chakan Police Station limits. A case has been filed against Prithviraj Uttar Singh Rathore for operating an illegal brewery. Rathore had set up a furnace to manufacture country-made liquor on the banks of the Bham River in Kalus village. The brewery, equipped with crude chemicals, produced eight thousand litres of Country Made Liquor. The police dismantled the setup, valued at Rs. 3 lakh, and an investigation is underway by Chakan police.

2) Shirgaon Operation:
In Shirgaon Police Station limits, Crime Branch Unit 5, under the supervision of Police Officer Rajkumar Ighare, raided a brewery situated on the banks of the Pavana River. A case has been registered against a woman who had established a furnace for preparing liquor. The police neutralized chemicals worth Rs. 3 lakh 500 used to produce 3000 litres of illicit liquor. The accused woman managed to escape, and Shirgaon Police are actively investigating the case.

3) Wakad Drug Seizure:
The anti-narcotics squad, led by Police Constable Mitesh Yadav, conducted an operation in Wakad Police Station limits, resulting in the apprehension of four women. The squad received information about the women selling ganja in Mhatoba Nagar. During the operation, 1 kg 430 grams of ganja and two mobile phones worth Rs. 1 lakh 1 thousand 500 were seized. An ongoing investigation is being led by the Wakad Police.
