Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Gears Up for Grand Celebrations on Indian Constitution Day

Pimpri, 25th November 2023: To raise awareness about the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to celebrate ‘Indian Constitution Day’ on November 26th. To mark the occasion, a series of educational programs have been organized near the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Pimpri.

Additional Commissioner Pradip Jamble Patil urged citizens to actively participate in the scheduled events. The celebration kicks off on November 26th with a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at 10:30 am, followed by a collective reading of the Constitution Preamble. Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh will lead the wreath-laying ceremony, and the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar will be garlanded at 10:45 am.

Educational programs commence at 11 am with Commissioner Singh inaugurating the events. A public awareness program titled ‘Jagar Constitution’ will be conducted by Rajmata Jijau Kalamanch at 11:15 am. Renowned ghazal singer Ashok Gaikwad’s performance based on the Indian Constitution will conclude at 12:30 pm, followed by a qawwali program by Mujtaba Naza at 2 pm.

At 5 pm, a general discussion on “Indian Constitution and Social Cause” will feature Dr. Balaji Jadhav, Rahul Kosambi, Prof. Dr. Lokesh Kamble, and Adv. Gaurav Kakade. Sudhir Thete will moderate the discussion. The day concludes at 7 pm with a diverse program presented by Kalaranjan Events and Entertainment, incorporating music, dance, theatre, and audio-visual elements.

On November 27th, the celebrations continue at 10 am with a song-singing program by Sudhakar Varbhuvan, Maruti Jakate, and Aniruddha Suryavanshi. A guidance camp for women self-help groups and disabled persons, led by officials of the Social Development Department, is scheduled for 11:30 am. Shrikant Apte, a Member of the Organ Transplant Authorization Committee, will lecture on “Firoon Re Janmen Me” at noon. The day concludes with a poet meeting titled “Voice of Constitution” at 3 pm, followed by song singing and a performance by renowned singer Milind Shinde at 7 pm.

The Municipal Corporation encourages maximum citizen participation in these educational and cultural events, underscoring the importance of understanding and upholding the values of the Indian Constitution.
