Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Wins Top Honor at Urban Mobility India Conference 2023
Delhi, 29th October 2023: In a momentous achievement, the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, announced Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation as the recipient of the top award at the Urban Mobility India Conference 2023.
The prestigious accolade was awarded in recognition of the city’s innovative approach to urban transport, which includes the implementation of supplementary facilities like bicycle paths and pedestrian routes on key roads. Notably, this also incorporates the No Vehicle Use (NMT) policy within Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
The entry, showcasing Pimpri Chinchwad’s pioneering urban transport initiatives, was submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development on 25 August 2023. After a rigorous evaluation, the city stood out among many contenders from across India.
The coveted award was presented to Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation today, on 29th October 2023, at the 16th Urban Transport Development Conference held at the Manik Shaw Centre in Delhi. Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh accepted the award from Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, in the presence of key officials and dignitaries during the prize distribution ceremony.
