Pimpri, 29th October 2023: A significant development is underway in Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial and auto hub that has emerged as a prominent IT center. Under the leadership of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, plans are being set in motion to establish a new Information Technology (IT) Park in the region.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s IT policy, which emphasizes the importance of initiating projects in rapidly developing areas, particularly in villages like Moshi, Charholi, and Chikhali.

The state of Maharashtra has a rich history in IT development, with the first Information Technology and Supportive Services Policy implemented in 1998. Over the years, this policy has led to a steady increase in exports and investments within the IT sector, strengthening the state’s foundation in the realm of information technology. Today, Maharashtra stands as one of Asia’s premier destinations for technology investments. In this context, the state government has recently unveiled a new Information Technology Support Services Policy for 2023, soliciting objections and suggestions from various stakeholders.

Under this new policy, there will be a focus on developing IT parks, IT software products, data centers, AVGCs (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics), and innovative technology-integrated IT cities to promote comprehensive expansion of IT support services in the state. The ultimate goal is to establish Maharashtra as the technological capital of India. To achieve this objective, developers of residential and commercial projects will be incentivized with benefits like stamp duty waivers, electricity duty exemptions, market development assistance, patent-related support, property tax exemptions, and more in various areas, including residential and non-development zones.

Furthermore, the policy will encourage the development of projects that allocate 50 percent of their land for IT-related use and 50 percent for other purposes on approximately 10 acres of land.

Regarding this plan, MLA Mahesh Landge said, “The aim of this policy is to attract new investments worth ₹95,000 crore in the IT support services sector, which is expected to create 3.5 million new job opportunities in the state. It is essential that the first IT project be initiated in the rapidly developing ‘Charholi-Moshi-Chikhali Residential Corridor’ in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This will not only address the developmental backlog in this area but also generate employment opportunities for local youth. Positive discussions with Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh have taken place, and the administration is expected to launch a study to take action as per the state government’s instructions. Additionally, a meeting involving CREDAI, construction professionals, Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal officials, and public representatives has been requested in the near future to further discuss this initiative.”
