Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Pays Tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on His Birth Anniversary
Pimpri, 15th October 2023: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the former President of India and Bharat Ratna, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation commemorated an event with great enthusiasm.
The tribute ceremony took place at the main administrative building in Pimpri, where Additional Commissioner Ulhas Jagtap paid his respects by offering floral tributes to the statue of the “Missile Man of India,” Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
The event was attended by esteemed individuals, including Chief Security Officer Major Uday Jarande, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Public Liaison Officer Prafulla Puranik, Disaster Management Officer Omprakash Bahiwal, Chief Clerk Wasim Qureshi, and employees from various departments.
Speaking at the gathering, Additional Commissioner Jagtap lauded Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s contributions to the nation. He emphasized that Dr Kalam was not only a brilliant scientist who spearheaded the development of indigenous guided missiles like Agni and Prithvi, but he also served as the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister for many years, showcasing his outstanding achievements in missile technology.
“Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was an ardent patriot, a great lecturer, and a visionary who made dedicated efforts to strengthen the country’s defence system,” stated Jagtap. He highlighted that the “Missile Man of India” was honoured with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, for his unparalleled contributions, and his legacy in enabling nuclear and missile systems through advanced technology will always be cherished.
