Pune : Traffic Police Announce Diversions Around City Temples for Navaratri Festival

Pune, 15th October 2023: In anticipation of the significant influx of devotees during the Navaratri festival, the city has implemented adjustments to the traffic system around various major temples. These changes have been initiated to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of worshipers.

Several temples in the city, including Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple, Shree Chatushringi Temple, Shree Bhavani Mata Temple in Bhawani Peth and Shree Mahalakshmi Temple in Sarasbagh, are experiencing temporary alterations to the traffic patterns. In these temple areas, certain roads have been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.

One of the prominent locations where devotees gather during Navaratri is the Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple in Budhwar Peth. Starting from Sunday, October 15, the road from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar (Hutatma) Chowk will be closed to traffic.

Vijay Kumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Traffic Branch has informed the public that one-way traffic will continue to flow between Budhwar Chowk and Appa Balwant Chowk. Additionally, the road between Ganapati Chowk and Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari on Lakshmi Road will be temporarily closed to traffic. The road from Sakal Office to Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple will be restricted to essential service vehicles only, with other vehicles prohibited. Parking of vehicles in the vicinity of Shree Tambadi Jogeshwari Mandir is strictly prohibited. A similar parking restriction applies to the Shree Ashtabhuja Mandir area in Shaniwar Peth. Devotees visiting Tambadi Jogeshwari Temple are encouraged to park their vehicles at the Mandai parking or the parking lot along the riverbank road.

In the event of overcrowding around Chatushringi Temple on Senapati Bapat Road, the traffic in this vicinity will be diverted to an alternative route. Traffic on Senapati Bapat Road will be rerouted via Vetalbaba Chowk and Deep Bangla Chowk in such instances.

Traffic arrangements have also been made in the Bhavani Peth area surrounding Bhavani Mata Mandir. Access to Shree Bhavani Mata Mandir is temporarily closed on Nehru Road and parking of vehicles is prohibited from Nehru Road to the Bhavani Mata Mandir area. In case of increased crowding, further changes may be implemented on Nehru Road. Traffic will be redirected in the Shree Mahalakshmi Temple area in Sarasbagh and the road from Swargate to Veer Savarkar statue via Sarasbagh will be temporarily closed for vehicular traffic. Traffic coming from Mitra Mandal Chowk will be diverted as well. These measures aim to ensure a safe and efficient experience for worshipers during the Navaratri festival.
