Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrest Wanted Chain-Snatcher After Two Years on the Run

Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th December 2024: The Anti-Extortion Squad and Industry Cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s (PCPC) Crime Branch have successfully arrested a wanted accused in a chain-snatching case who had been evading the police for the past two years. The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act of 1999 (MCOCA) had even been imposed on him. Four cases registered against him, including three at Dighi and one at Pimpri Police Station, have been solved due to this arrest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sandeep Doiphode stated that the accused was caught during a search for absconding suspects. Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Bhadane and his team apprehended him by laying a trap after receiving information from a trusted source. The thief, identified as Rohit Kishore Mainawat aka Rajput, 21, a resident of Shirur, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing, under the supervision of Assistant Police Commissioner of Chakan Division, Rajendra Singh Gaur, as stated by DCP Doiphode.
This action was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Balasaheb Kopner. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, included Police Sub-Inspector Subil Bhadane, Police Constables Pradeep Pote, Pradeep Godambe, Dnyaneshwar Kurhade, Kiran Jadhav, Kishore Kamble, Kiran Katkar, and Hulge.
