Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Bust Prostitution Racket: Man Arrested for Exploiting Foreigner

Pimpri Chinchwad, 20th April 2024: The Anti Human Trafficking Squad (AHTU) of Pimpri Chinchwad Police successfully dismantled an international human prostitution racket, rescuing a woman from Uganda in the process. The operation, conducted in Pimple Gurav around 5:30 pm on April 19th, led to the arrest of a man identified as Nikhil Kiran More, a 25-year-old resident of Pimple Gurav and originally from Jalgaon.

Constable Sudha Toke of AHTU complained to Sangvi Police Station, detailing More’s alleged exploitation of the Ugandan woman for prostitution under false promises of monetary gain. More reportedly utilized the proceeds for his livelihood. Sangvi police have filed a case against More under IPC section 370(2) (Trafficking of Person for Exploitation) and relevant sections of The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Senior Police Inspector Ramchandra Ghadge of Sangvi Police is spearheading the ongoing investigation into the matter.

According to AHTU Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, the operation was initiated based on intelligence received from a confidential source. The rescued woman, aged 35 and identified as a Ugandan citizen, will be presented in court, following which arrangements will be made to deport her, including contacting the Ugandan embassy for assistance.
