Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crack Down on Chain Snatching and Vehicle Theft with Major Arrest
Pimpri Chinchwad, 2nd May 2023: The Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad Police has made a significant breakthrough in the recent spate of chain snatching incidents, vehicle theft, car theft, and house burglaries with the arrest of Pradeep alias Pandurang Lahu Sutar.
The 32-year-old accused was apprehended from Latur by the anti-extortion squad after they received information about his whereabouts.
Sutar’s arrest follows several complaints about chain snatching in the area, leading to an investigation by the police. During the investigation, the anti-extortion squad found evidence in the form of CCTV footage linking Sutar and his accomplice Rama Patil to the crimes.
According to the police, Sutar has a criminal record and is wanted in seven cases of robbery, forced theft, attempted murder, and vehicle theft. He has been listed as a notorious offender in the police record.
The arrest was made after Sutar confessed to his involvement in the crimes during his interrogation. The Ravet police are currently working to take further action in the case.
The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (crime) Swapna Gore and ACP Shrikant Disle. The team included Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar, API Uddhav Khade, and Sunil Kangude, Pradip Godambe and Ashish Botke.
