Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Officer Caught Red-Handed For Soliciting Bribe Of Rs 50,000 For Postmortem Notes And Other Documents

Chinchwad, 26th May 2022: The Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for giving post-mortem notes and other documents. The operation was carried out at Chinchwad Police Station on Wednesday (May 25).

 

Vitthal Ambaji Shinge (57) is the name of the ASI who was caught red-handed while taking a bribe. A 36-year-old man lodged a complaint with the ACB.

 

A complaint has been lodged at Chinchwad police station against the complainant’s brother. The complainant then asked for the post-mortem note and other documents of his brother’s wife. For this, Shinge demanded a bribe from the complainant. It was then decided to pay Rs 25,000 in the compromise.

 

As the complainant was not ready to pay the bribe, he lodged a complaint with Pune ACB. While verifying the complaint received, it was concluded that Shinge agreed to take Rs 25,000 from the complainant and asked for Rs 5,000 as an advance. While accepting the bribe money from the complainant, the ACB officials caught Shinge red-handed.

 

A case has been registered against him at Chinchwad police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of Pune ACB SP Rajesh Bansode and Additional Superintendent of Police Suraj Gurav. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Inspector Shriram Shinde. A team of Police Inspector Shriram Shinde, Purnima Saka, Riaz Sheikh, Pandurang Mali conducted the operation.
