Pune : Pimpri Chinchwad Police Plan Multi-Layered Security Cover For World Cup Matches Scheduled At MCA Stadium In Gahunje

Pune 22nd Sept 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police has geared up to make security arrangements at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Gahunje ahead of scheduled ICC World Cup matches. Arranging the security and managing the traffic movement during the match timing are among the major challenges the city police expect during this period.

The police have planned a multi-layer security cover in and around the stadium and a detailed plan for the same is prepared. A specific number of police personnel and officers will be given a responsibility to secure each layer, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner told The Indian Express. The police are also preparing a plan to make arrangements for the travel of players of the different teams who will be halting at hotels in the city.

A total of five matches of the ICC ODI World Cup are scheduled at Pune’s MCA stadium and the police are in touch with the MCA officials to make arrangements. MCA Stadium of Pune will host the ODI World Cup Matches for the first time in its history. Fans from across the world are expected to reach the stadium to enjoy the game. The first match is scheduled between India and Bangladesh on October 19.

The other four matches of the world cup tournament scheduled at MCA stadium in Pune include Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka on October 30, New Zealand vs South Africa on November 1, England vs Netherlands on November 8 and Australia vs Bangladesh on November 12.
