Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad to Get Three New Fire Stations Amid Rapid Urban Expansion
Pune, 6th August 2025: In response to the rapidly growing population and expanding urban landscape, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced plans to set up three new fire stations in Pimple Nilakh, Charholi, and Bhosari MIDC. While land acquisition is underway for Pimple Nilakh and Charholi, the tender process has commenced for the Bhosari MIDC station.
Currently, the city operates 10 fire stations, including the main station at Pimpri and sub-stations in Bhosari, Moshi, Chikhali, Talwade, Rahatani, Thergaon, Pradhikaran, Chovisawadi, and Nehrunagar. These stations provide 24×7 emergency services across the city.
The civic body is undertaking a major expansion of its fire services infrastructure, citing the urgent need to reduce emergency response times and improve fire safety across residential and industrial zones. Construction is already in progress for new fire stations at Punawale, Dighi, and Nigdi Pradhikaran, along with a dedicated fire headquarters in Pimpri.
“It has been decided to build three new fire stations. Efforts are being made to acquire land from the Defence Department at Pimple Nilakh. Land acquisition is also in progress in Charholi and World Pride City through the Urban Planning and E Regional Office. Meanwhile, the tender process for the Bhosari MIDC station is underway,” said Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale-Patil.
“Response time is critical during emergencies. These new fire stations will help minimize both human casualties and property loss.”
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh also emphasized the urgency of enhancing disaster management systems across all city wards.
“Considering the city’s rapid growth and rising population, the new fire stations are essential. They will significantly reduce response time, allowing for more effective protection of citizens’ lives and properties,” he said.
