Pimpri, 2nd December 2023: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Traffic Branch has taken action against 32,775 unruly drivers in the one-month period from November 1st to 30th. The fines collected during this crackdown amount to a staggering Rs 2 crore 72 lakh.

As Pimpri-Chinchwad city undergoes rapid development and growth, the surge in population is accompanied by an increase in the number of vehicles. With this rise, traffic-related offenses have become more prevalent. To address this, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Branch has initiated a robust action campaign to enforce traffic discipline and curb accidents, targeting motorists who violate traffic rules.

Throughout November, the traffic police executed substantial measures, resulting in the collection of fines totaling Rs 2 crore 72 lakh 91 thousand 700. Additionally, cases were filed against 607 motorists found driving in the opposite direction (wrong way). The crackdown also extended to 6,372 heavy vehicles entering restricted routes, along with punitive action against 32,775 vehicle drivers within the span of a month.

The violations encompassed various offences, including 939 cases of talking on mobile phones while driving, 1,728 instances of breaking traffic control signals, 3,559 incidents of three people riding on two-wheelers, 2,880 cases of riding without helmets, 2,220 instances of not wearing safety belts, 1,390 violations involving vehicles with black-tinted windows, and 884 cases of playing loud exhaust silencers.

Additionally, 8,967 motorists were penalized for obstructing traffic, and 3,229 faced consequences for driving in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes.
